Caroline Sorrentino (née Viscel), 91, passed away on July 8th, 2021 surrounded by her family. She passed away 19 years to the day that her only sister, Mary, was called home. Caroline was one of seven siblings who are now all reunited in Heaven. She lived the majority of her life in Belleville, NJ with her husband Frank and daughter Maria. Caroline was a devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, nana, and so much more to her family and friends.
Born in Newark in 1929, Caroline was raised in a traditional Italian-American household, working in her father's restaurant along with her brothers and sister. It was there that Caroline learned many of her family-famous recipes that won the hearts of everyone who tasted them.
Her family and friends will remember her fondly for her quick wit and wearing her heart on her sleeve. Surviving is her daughter Maria Erdos and her husband John, and her three granddaughters, Jen, Alicia, and Staci, who were her greatest joys in life (aside from Dean Martin and Atlantic City).
They will miss most her perfectly prepared bagels, meatballs, and of course the way she would stand at the door and wave until their car was out of sight.
Join us in celebrating Caroline's life on Monday July 12th from 3pm-7pm at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd, Bayville, NJ 08721. Burial will take place the following day, Tuesday July 13th. A final prayer and viewing will take place at Mastapeter at 9:30am followed by the procession to Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield, NJ at 10:30am.
