Barbara Ann Powers

Barbara (Gall) Powers, cherished mother and friend, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in New York and raised in New York and New Jersey before moving and settling  in Ocean Gate in 1986 where she raised her four children and met the love of her life with whom she shared the last 29 years. 

Barbara graduated from Scotch Plains High School in 1976 and worked as a travel agent and at the Anchor Inn in Ocean Gate for over 30 years. She loved traveling, cruises, bingo, clearance shopping and most of all, her four children whom she was always so proud of. Barbara was an extremely generous woman who was known to always be helping others and supporting important causes. 

Barbara is predeceased by her grandmother, Margaret Keating; mother, Barbara Duehne; brother and niece, John and Crystal Gall; and her beloved son, Brian Powers. 

She is survived by her partner of 29 years, Ricky Hawkins; children, Jennifer and partner Steven, Stefanie and Joseph Powers; Stefanie Young and grandson, Xavier Gabriele.  Additional surviving family members include her uncle, William Keating; brothers, William, Paul, and Frank Gall; sister-in-law, Sharon Gall; sisters Wendy Taylor and Tammy Hammon-Card; niece and nephew, Anne Marie and Billy Gall and many extended family members and friends. 

A private celebration of life will be held with family and close friends at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Barbara’s Honor to the Popcorn Park Zoo or the Toys for Tots Foundation.
