Barbara Barry Obituary

Barbara Anne Barry (née Madden) passed away peacefully in Philadelphia on December 2nd, 2023, with her husband and daughters lovingly by her side, following a sudden decline in health.

Barbara was Born May 6th, 1956, to Elizabeth and John Madden in East Orange, NJ. A short time later, the family relocated to Wall Township, NJ, where Barbara spent her formative years and would eventually raise a family of her own. Barbara was a precocious and adventurous child—often covered in bruises and band-aids, reflective of days well spent exploring and playing with neighborhood friends.

Barbara had a wonderful sense of humor and an enormous heart—one that eventually led her to a career of service as a Patient Care Associate at Jersey Shore Medical Center. “Bobbi,” as she was known on the hospital floors, was passionate about providing the best care possible for patients and had an unparalleled work ethic. She was conscientious, dependable and notoriously punctual. She lived by the motto that if you’re not at least five minutes early, you’re late.

Of the many names Barb was affectionately known as none gave her nearly as much joy as the one bestowed by her grandchildren—“Nama.” Frankie, Emma and Michael were the light of her life. Some of her fondest memories include hosting “Camp Nama” during the summertime and the annual Halloween party at her house with the kids and their cousins (Alyssa, Tanner, Mason and Luke), whom she loved and treated as her own grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and is survived and missed by her loving husband of 30 years, Bernard J. Barry of Toms River, NJ; daughters Kim Rispoli-Bianco (husband Michael) of Bayville, NJ and Karyn Rispoli-Pardue (husband Sean) of Wall Township, NJ; and her grandkids, all of Bayville, NJ. She is also survived by her sister Jane Hess (husband Herbert) of Moscow, ID and brother Sean Madden (wife Natalie) of Ladera Ranch, CA. In addition to being a doting grandma, Barbara was an immensely proud aunt to her nieces Amanda, Ava and Ella, and a cherished friend to many. And last, though certainly not least, Barbara will be sorely missed by her most loyal and ever-present canine companion, Marley.

Visitation will be held at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd, Bayville, NJ from 4-7pm on Wednesday, December 6th, followed by internment on Thursday at 11am at St. Anne Cemetery, 1610 Allenwood Rd, Wall Township, NJ 07719
