Avril W Leary, 82 formerly of Bayville, NJ passed away peacefully on Thursday June 14, 2018
Avril was born in England and came to America in her early 20's, she met her future husband while working as a nanny. Avril moved to Bayville, NJ in 1958 and married Robert H Leary on 11/29/1959 at Christ Episcopal Church Toms River, NJ. They had a home built in the Holly Park section of Bayville, NJ and Avril resided there until June of 2004 when she relocated to Whiting NJ.
Avril was a very busy woman, she was known for ALWAYS having knitting needles in her hands! She was active in her community; she donated over 4 gallons of blood until she was no longer able to, she created many neighborhood groups, one was known as the Nutty Knitters, she was a member of the Holly Park Beach Association and the Bayville Historic Society. Avril was an active member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church of Waretown. Avril was a caregiver, she started babysitting young children and then later she even sat with elderly people. Avril travelled yearly to visit her family in England and often travelled to many interesting places with her sister & brother-in-law.
Avril is survived by her children: Brian (Barbara) Leary, Kevin (Tammy) Leary, Sharon Leary (William Gorczynski), brother James (Margaret) Waller, brother-in-law Bernard Pitman, sister-in-law Sue Annis, Grandchildren: Nick (Crystal) Leary, Sarah Leary, Brianna Leary, Brooke Leary, Timothy Leary, Great Grandchildren: Kayla Leary, Lola Leary & Arianna Hunt and several nieces and a nephew and great nieces and nephews.
Avril was predeceased by her husband Robert H Leary, her parents Robert & Evelyn (Spittle) Waller, sisters Dorothy (Waller) Pitman & June Waller, brother-in-law Keene Annis and nephew Davieson Annis.
Viewing will be at Mastapeter Funeral Homes, 270 Atlantic City Blvd, Bayville, NJ on, Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 4pm to 6pm. Funeral will be held on Monday, June 25th at 10:00am at the funeral home with a prayer service at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Bayville Cemetery.
