Arthur “Butchie” Reece, 78, of Bricktown, NJ passed away on September 18, 2025. He was born in Jersey City and raised in North Bergen. He also lived in Union City, NJ before moving to Bricktown, NJ in 1978. He was a graduate of North Bergen High School where he played guard on their Varsity football team. After graduation he enlisted in the US Army and proudly served his country as an Army Ranger during the Vietnam War. After his tour of duty, he then served his community as a Police Officer with Union City Police Department, achieving the rank of Detective with 30 years of service before retiring. He was a member of the Brick VFW Post# 8867 and also a member of the Brick American Legion Post# 348. Butchie was a collector of Military memorabilia and an avid fisherman and dog lover. Arthur was very devoted to his family, especially to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his first wife of 31 years Sarah “Porcelli” Reece, and also his parents Raymond and Mildred Reece and two siblings Raymond Jr., and Lydia Ramirez.
Surviving are his wife Carol, three children, Arthur Reece and his wife Kimberly, Shawn Reece and his wife Melissa, and Kimberly Kreske and her husband Christopher, five grandchildren, Emma Reece, Monique Kreske, Sarah Kreske, Hunter Kreske and Savannah Farmer and her husband Bryson, also three great grandchildren Layla, Joseph, Leo and his Aunt Mildred Bryant.
Visiting hours for family and friends will be on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 9:00-12:00pm with a Prayer Service at 11:30am at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville, 08721. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Ocean County Memorial Park, 1722 Silverton Rd., Toms River, NJ 08753.
