Arlette Malivernier, 94, of Toms River, passed on December 19, 2025. Born on January 11, 1931 in Alsace Lorraine, France in the Alsacienne region, Arlette as a young woman, followed her favorite aunt to the United States. When she first arrived in New York City, Arlette worked for the Museum of Natural History translating documents in the basement.
Being a lively and social individual, Arlette found this work boring. In short order, she left the museum and started her long career in the travel industry. Being a multi-lingual French woman who spoke English with a German accent, Arlette was a natural to provide concierge services both in the United States and in Europe for large groups traveling for business. When it was time to retire, Arlette followed her aunt again, this time down the shore to Toms River. Arlette made her home in Holiday City Silverton with her adorable kittens for the next several decades with more time to pursue her interests, Arlette was able to dedicate herself to her artwork.
She joined the Ocean County Artists Guild where she served as a member of the Board of Trustees and Treasurer for years. Arlette was artist, teacher and beloved friend to so many. She regaled all with her exuberant presence and exciting stories of her past. Arlette will be remembered fondly by those who were lucky enough to share in her artistry and her life.
Services are private and arrangements are under the direction of Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville, NJ 08721.
