Andrew (Jay) McIndoe Obituary

Andrew J. McIndoe (Jay), 64, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, at his home in South Toms River, New Jersey. He was born on August 24, 1961, in Bangor, Maine. Jay lived a loud, hard-working blue-collar life and deeply cared for everyone around him.

Raised in the Toms River area, Jay attended local schools through high school. He left a lasting legacy through soccer, traveling not only locally but across the country and even to Europe to play.

Jay was an avid outdoorsman who believed strongly in nature preservation and spent much of his life outdoors hunting, fishing, swimming, skiing, playing horseshoes, camping, and enjoying just about anything outside. He loved spending time at local beaches as well as in the Mountains of New York State and Vermont, where he felt equally at peace. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for the New York Giants and his family.

Jay worked hard. He made his living working with his hands in various fields, specializing in home irrigation. He also worked as a truck driver, landscaper, home repairman, mechanic, and in just about any hands-on job imaginable. All backed by a strong work ethic and belief in working with his hands.

Jay was preceded by his Sister Joni and leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his sons, Andrew, Shawn, and Michael; his grandsons, Nolan, Wyatt, Andrew Jay, and Bryson; his brothers, Larry and Rob Hanneman; his sister, Vicki Hanneman nash; and his nieces and nephews, Kevin, Tracey, Lara, Ben, Samantha, Luke, Josh, Alex, Sophie, and Dylan.

Jay’s legacy is one of fierce, loud independence and full of love for family and friends and life, one that could simply not be fully covered by a few short words in this post. He was a one-of-a-kind personality who loved nothing more than a day spent outdoors followed by a meal with friends and family the more, the better. He spent his entire life in the same Ocean County community, loving the area and the people in it, even as many moved away. His heart was as large as his personality, and there will never be another like him. He will be dearly missed.

Viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday December 19, 2025 from 3:00-7:00pm at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville, NJ 08721.
