Adele Audrey Neiderhofer (nee Wacha), 91, passed away peacefully on May 1 at her home in Bayville, NJ, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Hackensack, NJ, to Emil Wacha and Ruth (nee Mason).
Adele was married for 54 years to Sergeant James Neiderhofer of the Teaneck Police Department until his death in 2006. They met on the corner of a bus stop playing handball in Teaneck, NJ. Adele was a homemaker, raising her three children. She worked in the Dental Department for Farleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck. She then went back to school and graduated with an Operating Room Technician Certificate from Bergen Community College with honors. Both her daughters graduated that day alongside her which was a first for the college. She worked at various doctors’ offices as a Medical Assistant. Adele lived in Teaneck, NJ for 62 years before retiring with her husband to Bayville in 1986. She was an active communicant of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church when she lived in Teaneck. In Bayville, she was an active licensed member of the AAMA of Ocean County and was their Treasurer for two years. Adele was an avid crafter and crocheter with many family members receiving special treasures throughout the years. She loved doing puzzles, Sudoku and crossword puzzles. Adele was quite competitive when playing cards and dice games.
Surviving Adele are her three lovely children, Paul Neiderhofer and his wife, Gerri, of New Milford; Janet Hoffman and her husband, Rob, of New Hampshire; and Theresa Hunt and her husband, Kevin, of Englewood. Grandsons, Cody DeLong and his fiancé Alyxus Friesen, Sean Neiderhofer, and Daniel Neiderhofer. Step-Grandsons, Bobby Hoffman and fiancé Katie Kirley, and Matthew Hoffman and wife Edna. Great Grandsons, Avery and Finley DeLong. Step Great Grandson, Mateo. Brothers, Eddie Wacha and wife Donna, and Arthur Wacha. Sisters, Blanche Craton and Linda Pregenzer. Adele was a beloved Aunt, Great Aunt and Great-Great Aunt to many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister, Joyce Ekstrand. Adele will always be remembered for sending out birthday and anniversary cards to her beloved family members.
Viewing for family and friends will be on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 1:00-4:00pm at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville, NJ 08721.
