Obituary

Wanda Skóra (Kulik), of Toms River, died peacefully on February 19, 2020. Born in Tuszyma, Poland in 1931, she survived World War II, communism times, worked every day inWSK Mielec, volunteered in local organizations promoting community gatherings and unity, while raising her 8 children, building a house, etc.- she was always a busy woman.Wanda moved to the United States in 1984, resided in Lakewood first, and then moved to Toms River in 2013.

Wanda Skóra promoted Polish culture and traditions from the day she came to Ocean County. She volunteered for many community organizations, such as atSt. Mary of the Lake parish. As one of the first Poles in our area she took initiative in the efforts of starting the Polish Mass in the St. Mary of the Lake church in Lakewood in 1988, which is being continued to this day. With some other leaders she pushedto open Polish Supplementary School in Lakewood, NJ in 1995, which teaches Polish language, culture, and traditions until today, and honored her efforts many times during the first decade of its activity. She was also an active member of Jersey Shore PolishAmerican Association, organizing meetings, events, picnics, and festivals, etc. Her overall volunteer work and involvement was honored by assigning her Pulaski Parade Contingent Marshal in 1997. Advancing in years, Wanda withdrew from a very active social life but kept supporting Polish Community gathered in Visitation Church in Brick Twp from 2000- 2010, and Polish Language Academy that opened in 2010 and established her an honored member.

She was predeceased by her husband Jozef Skórain 2001, her siblings in Poland, and her beloved youngest son Andrzej Skóra in 2016. Surviving are her beloved children Zbigniew Skóra, Teresa Sarama, Ewa Bieszczad, Zygmunt Skóra, Krystyna Kania, Róża Władczyk, Leszek Skóra and daughterin law Małgorzata Skóra, 29 grandchilden, all with families, and 48 great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be Friday, Feb.21st, from 6pm to 9pm and again on Satuday, Feb. 22 from 9:30-10:15am in the Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic city Blvd., Bayville. The procession will be leaving the funeral home at 10:30am to be on the way to Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery in Doylestown, PA. The funeral service will begin at 12:30pm in the Cemetery Chapel.
