Obituary for Rose Ann Semanchick

Rose Ann (Virga) Semanchick, 75, passed away on August 29, 2020 surrounded by loved ones. Rose Ann was born in Newark, NJ on August 12, 1945 and grew up in Bloomfield, NJ. She is the youngest of four children, her siblings being Joseph, Mary, and Philip. She helped work Twin Food Store, the family grocery store that her mother and father, Sadie and James Virga, owned in Newark, NJ. She graduated from Bloomfield High School, then attend Lyons Institute. She married John Semanchick in 1966, who together raise three sons. Rose Ann spent most of her career with Community Medical Center/St. Barnabas Healthcare where she retired as a supervisor of patient accounts. She was a member of the Debora Hospital Foundation, where she was given the Chapter Superstar award for her outstanding time and effort. She was president of the Toms River Chapter AL P.E.O Sisterhood, a philanthropic women’s organization. She was a longtime member and Deacon of the Presbyterian Church of Toms River. As a music lover, she was a member of the choir, and a participant and contributor, for the Ocean Classic Concerts. Her favorite being the Christmas concert held at the church. Always interested in home making including cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, planting, and several other crafty endeavors. Alongside her during each of these hobbies were her beloved cats and her dog. She loved animals and treated them with the same reverence she had for people.

Rose Ann is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, John Semanchick, and her children, Johnny; Stephen Semanchick and wife Karen, Vincent James Semanchick and wife Sharon, and Philip Michael Semanchick and wife Jennifer, and her six grandchildren Jonathan, Rachel, Adam, Vincent, Leah, and Madelyn.
As a wife, mother, and grandmother, she fulfilled each roll with grace and strength that continues to thrive in the hearts of her family and her friends.

A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River, Saturday, September 19th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the; Presbyterian Church of Toms River; or; Deborah Hospital Foundation
