Ronald I. Rapp, long-time resident of Beachwood, New Jersey, went home to be with the Lord after battling complications related to the coronavirus on April 3, 2020.

Ron was born on January 25, 1940 in Sewickley, Pennsylvania to parents Richard and Margery Rapp and was the second oldest of four siblings. He was a dedicated Elizabeth Town Gas Company employee and volunteer firefighter for The East Dover Fire Company. Ron was also a devoted Boy Scouts troop leader, a member of The Knights of Columbus, and a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church.

Ron was always at home on his boat, which is where his children have some of their most beloved memories. He was an avid fisherman spending many a beautiful morning on the water and gifting his family with delicious dinners. A cherished memory of Ron is his love for Lionel trains; every child and grandchild of his cannot picture a Christmas without his train villages lovingly crafted for his family.

Ron’s life and love lives on through his beautiful family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Catherine (nee: Schlicker) Rapp; his three children, Ronald Jr. (Barbara) of Clermont, Florida, Kenneth, of Toms River, New Jersey, and daughter Karen of Cape May Court House, New Jersey; his sister Marcia Griesi, of Greer, South Carolina, and brother James Rapp (Marlene) of Taylors, South Carolina. Mourning his sudden passing are his nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Victoria, Justin, Austin, Catherine-Brie, Aaron, Kaeli, Joey, Kenny, Sean and two great-grandchildren: Juliette and Daniel. Plus, many loved nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Rapp and sister-in-law Claire, brother-in-law Thomas Griesi, daughter-in-law Iris Rapp and niece Marianne Rapp.

Ron leaves behind a legacy filled with the importance of taking pride in hard work, putting family first, and walking through life holding steadfast to God.

Ron had a private cremation conducted by Mastapeter Memorial Home. A memorial service will be held by the family to be determined at a later date.

Hello my name is Donna. I live next door to Ron and Kathy. 6 years ago I moved to Beachwood. From day one Ron was so good to me. He has more tools than Home Depot. No matter what I needed Ron had. If he did not he would have it for me the next day.
He loved to feed the birds, squirrels, and the chipmunks where his favorite. He would come get me out of my garage to show me them running around his yard. He took pride in everything he did. Right down to the Beachwood yard sale.
He loved his family more than any man I have ever known. His fishing bubbies would say “ come on Ron let’s go fishing “. Nope his family always came first with no explanations to anyone.
I will miss our talks over the garage cans at night.
Show them how to fish in heaven Ron. Miss you my friend xoxo Donna
