Edward L. McCarthy, 83, of Toms River, died peacefully on February 27, 2020 with his loving family at his bedside. Born in Elizabeth, he lived most of his life in Kenilworth before moving to Toms River over 30 years ago. Ed had retired from the Trucking Industry and was very active in sports. He was very athletic and made Varsity Football when he was only a Freshman in High School. He also was an avid Golfer. Mr. McCarthy proudly served his Country in the US Navy during the end of the Korean War and into peacetime. He was predeceased by his wife Jean McCarthy in 2011.

Surviving are his three daughters, Colleen Fiorillo, Maureen McCarthy and Kelly DeBastos and her husband Jeff; one stepson Anthony Abramson; four grandchildren, Ashley, Michael, Amber and Brandon; and three step grandchildren, Molly, Matthew and Jaclyn.

Funeral service and entombment will be private under the direction of Mastapeter Memorial Home, Bayville. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed’s memory to; St. Jude Children’s Hospital (, would be appreciated.
The family would like to thank Serenity Hospice of Bordentown, New Jersey for their dedication, compassion and services.
