Arthur G. Oliver, Sr., age 76, passed away unexpectedly on March 7th, 2020 in Manchester, New Jersey. Arthur was born on June 1, 1943 in Sardis, Georgia to the late Laura and Luther Oliver. In 1956, he moved to Lakewood, New Jersey. He accepted a position as a meat cutter and worked there for over 20 years. In 1983 he accepted a position as a groundskeeper for Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood, New Jersey, where he worked at until death.
In 1974, he married Betty Harris and from this union came three children. Arthur was a great family man and a loving father. Arthur was a jokester, an active man who was deeply involved in being there for his family, nothing else in the world mattered to him but making sure they were okay. He enjoyed listening and dancing to Elvis, seeing Elvis personations in concert, remodeling his home, and being with his family. His family and friends will always remember him as a strong, wise, funny and loving person.
He was preceded in death by his son Arthur Oliver Jr. and siblings Willie Smith, William Knight and Susie Knight. Arthur leaves to cherish his loving memory his daughter Wendy Oliver, son Hubert Oliver, stepdaughters Melody Severe, Kanesha Severe, daughter in law Jennifer Oliver. His grandchildren Khaliq, Lexus, Malik, Artayjah, Arteona, Tatyana, Tariq, Brianna, Jasmine, Artis, and Gregory, and one great grandchild; Jeremy Busch. Siblings Mack Oliver, Justine Whitehead, Ronald Whitehead, Arleatha Hick, Tommy Hicks, Johnny Mutch and a host of relatives and friends.
Services is scheduled for Saturday, March 14th 2020, at a private location. Flowers and donations can be sent to 217 Oak Lane, Manchester NJ, 08759. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Mastapeter Memorial Home in Bayville.
