Obituary for Angelo Vassallo

On October 14, 2019, Angelo Vassallo, beloved husband to Catherine Vassallo (deceased) and father of four children, passed away at the age of 87, surrounded by his family. Angelo was born on October 4, 1932 to Antoinette and Charles Vassallo in New York, New York. Angelo had a passion for the outdoors and loved camping and spending time with his family. Their Saddle Brook home reflected his love of gardening with his wife “Kay”. He lived for bringing the boys and Kay to motocross races during their childhood.
Angelo was a pioneer by moving his family from New York City to the suburbs of New Jersey in 1956. For the next 40 years, he resided with his family in Saddle Brook, NJ. Contributing to the community, Angelo was a Saddle Brook Special Police Officer obtaining the rank of Sergeant and managed Saddle Brook Little League for many years. He was also a member of the Saddle Brook Chapter of Unico. Angelo retired from the New York City Department of Transportation.

He is predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Catherine Vassallo (2002). He is survived by his four sons and their wives, Robert and Theresa, Michael and Mary, Richard and Maria and Ronald and Maureen. Angelo had nine grandchildren who loved him dearly - Amy, Kaitlyn, Raymond, Alyssa, Nicholas, Matthew, Briana, Annalyse and Emily. He also had three great grandchildren, Taylor, Angelina and Casey. Angelo is also survived by his sisters, Mary and Camille (Edward Sharp) and his brothers, Joseph (Joanna predeceased) and Charles (Kathy).

Funeral services will be held on October 16th at Mastapeter Funeral Home, 270 Atlantic City Boulevard, Bayville, NJ from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.
Mass will be held at Saint Barnabas Church on October 17th at 9:30 A.M., 33 Woodland Road, Bayville, NJ.
Burial following mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1 Outwater Lane, Saddle Brook, NJ 07663.
